DIY Rainbow Highlighter

Hello loves,

I couldn’t resist. I have seen so many people making their own versions of the Bitterlace Beauty Highlighter and I just had to do the same.

Here is a list of what I used:

A powder highlighter that you don’t mind destroying for the cause

Rainbow eyeshadows– preferably shimmery and not super pigmented

An empty powder container– the smaller the better! You want to make sure the brush that you’re planning on using can reach all of the colors!

Rubbing alcohol– the higher the percentage, the quicker it will dry

7 containers– one for each color and the highlighter

A knife or some sort of object to crush the eyeshadows with

Paper towels– this is going to get messy

Let’s get started!

These are the eyeshadows that I decided to destroy. I replaced the red with this pink color because I thought it would look more flattering.

TIP: Test the colors on your arm in the order you plan on making the highlighter. This ensures everything will look good.

*Try to use a non-pigmented blue because I didn’t and when I applied it looked kind of like a bruise streak… Whoops.

I de-potted all of my eye shadows and my highlighter and put them into my glass containers. You could use a multitude of things for this, but I figured glass would be the easiest to clean.

I crushed all of the eyeshadow into a fine powder and then added even amounts of my highlighter into each container.

I then added small bits of alcohol at a time to make a paste. I used a medicine dropper but feel free to use anything you would like.

Then, I used my knife to fill a paste into my empty container.

Take a paper towel, fold it up and press down firmly until you can no longer see any alcohol or pigment on the towel.

Now, I used wayyyyy to much of the paste for my highlighter. When I pressed down with the paper towel it spread like crazy! Don’t do this.

By the time I cleaned it up, I lost a majority of the red and almost all of the purple.

But that’s okay. It was still pretty!

I let it dry for 24 hours and it was done!

Like I said, my blue was wayyy to pigmented but I still think it looked pretty cool!

And that’s it for today! Thank you so much for reading! Let me know if you would wear a rainbow highlighter! And where to?
